The “Develop+Protect+Commercialize” (D+P+C) model illustrates the process “from the lab to the market” adopting the researcher’s standpoint who aims to commercialize his/her research. It recognizes TT as a process of three parallel interrelated streamlines: Develop, Protect and Commercialize. Each streamline is composed by a sequence of steps, where each step implicates options, and, in turn, decisions. The D+P+C model is used to a) ‘estimate’ the maturity of a research project in terms of TT and b) guide researchers and TT officers throughout the process.
